Remember I was saying something about an important visitor in my last post? Well, yesterday the President of Slovenia, Mr. Danilo Türk visited me and my crew in our offices in Ljubljana. Things got pretty hectic an hour before his arrival as guys and girls from the office were running around, cleaning the place, pluging in speakers and laptops, preparing food and drinks in the conference room and guarding the parking lot so noone would take it.
The president arrived at 3 pm and we waited for him outside, although it was freezing cold. Some of the guys at the office apparently put fashion in front of comfort, so they were standing out at 10 degrees sub zero in just a suit without a coat. I'm pretty sure someone will call in sick tomorrow!
Mr. Türk has to be the coolest president ever. Although his chief of protocol was gently rushing us to finish conversation in the conference room and move to the improvised studio we set up at the office, the president insisted to stay longer as he wanted to find out more about my career, gigs around the world and some interesting stories. At the end I showed him how DJs mix music and also explained him some differences between genres in electronic music while he was petting our office dog, a chiuaua named Fidel.
Before he left, I gave him a framed vinyl version of Gatex and signed some CDs for his daughter and other members of his team. Did he like the gift? I think it's best described by his own words: »I'm sure there will be a battle for this when I get back to my residence, but I think that the frame will stay in my office.«
Obama might listen to rap tunes on his iPod, but Slovenian president has got my most legendary vinyl hanging on the wall at his place.
