results : Dj Mag Top 100 2009
30th October 2009 / Comments (0) / Views (1429)
Time was passing slowly from August 2009 as we anxiously awaited this year's Dj Mag Top 100 polls' results to be announced. Now they're finally here and, especially because the competition was very stiff, we can proudly announce the 39th position that Umek was voted to in the category of all genres. In the category of techno DJs, Umek was voted to a 3rd spot, with only Carl Cox and Richie Hawtin above him. Since the techno category plummeted in popularity this year, the result is even more impressive and we’re sure that when techno music will regain popularity again, Umek’s score in general category will greatly improve.
It is well known that DJ Mag Top 100 is basically a competition of popularity, so a commercial and media presence is an important factor as well as actual skill, knowledge and talent. With that in mind we owe a huge thank you to all Umek’s dedicated fans, followers and techno foot soldiers on the dance floors around the globe as well as everybody else for contributing to evolution of the electronic music scene year after year.
Of course the work is not finished by a long shot, so with determination on his mind and a handful of aces up his sleeve, Umek will continue to produce and perform in the future as it – by his own words - belongs to computers, new software and hardware solutions that allows us to process the music in new ways.
