Ljubljana is a nightmare to pronounce if you're not born Slovenian. To make things easier for you - it's L-you-bl-yana. There's a river flowing through the capital of Slovenia and the river is called Ljubljanica. Try to figure that out :)

It's the biggest Slovenian city, a political, economical and cultural center. But most importantly – Umek's hometown. He grew up in Ljubljana and his first gigs were in legendary clubs like Palma and K4. Here he used to play basketball in Tivoli hall along with NBA superstar Rašo Nesterović (Toronto Raptors) and this is where he and his friends organized their first party, lost all of their money and had to clean the hall by themselves.

Ljubljana's stunning architecture with landmarks like the castle, the old town, Tivoli park and national library attract more and more tourists, exploring secret parts, sit in idyllic cafes by the river or discover the town's nightlife. Everything is within a walking distance and you won't feel lost as almost everyone speaks at least some English. Even the homeless have globalised themselves to the level where they can ask you for some change in quite a few languages.

If you decide to pay Ljubljana a visit, come in May, when Umek celebrates his birthday in a monumental Križanke open theatre on an event called Dan Elektronike (or Day of Electronics). If you live more than 2.000 km away, you'll get a free ticket. The party has become a traditional gourmet event, organized by Umek's own promo and management team - Futuristični Marketing, while Umek's art studio VBG takes care of the visual part. A must see!
