new release : Utopia EP

Following a refreshing remix of Ralph Falcon’s The Dig earlier this year, Umek is finally ready to release his debut artist EP on the Renaissance.
Utopia represents a slight deviation from the sound of his recent productions as it revives his long asleep Zeta Reticula moniker. It all started with some pre-spring dusting of old Studio Electronics synthesizer stuck somewhere in the back closet of home workshop. The final result is unusual encounter of aged sound databases and modern production approaches which takes the techno saga of Zeta Reticula into the the future.
Remix honours go to Alex Krueger aka Tigerskin, perhaps best known for 2006 release Neontrance. He gives the record an altogether more housy flavour which will certainly get your hips moving. Rounding off the package is another Umek’s “take-some-noble-techno-past-into-the-future" production: Suspension of Disbelief, early supported by the likes of John Digweed, serves to prove the strength of the EP as a complete story.
