All about Responding to Dynamic
20th March 2010 / Comments (0) / Views (1467)
As you must have noticed by now, I just released my second album, called Responding to Dynamic. Probably many of you wonder what it takes to release an album and believe me – it's not exactly a walk in the park. I'll try to sum up some cruicial points and give you an insight into the background of the whole process.
After getting tracks together, the music has to get masterized, but this is just a tip of an iceberg. My creatives had to come up with a suitable design, which wasn't so hard as my label 1605 had followed the same story since the beginning. Grayscale background and some kickass illustrations from Subtotal designer studio. Production complete, we had to choose a distributor, negotiate prices, get a high-quality printing house and choose an appropriate package. We decided to go with enviromentally friendly material, because at 1605 we try to respect the nature as much as we can.
Guys at the office claim that there are three things you have to take care after having everything assembled together and ready for release. These three things are promotion, promotion and promotion. Getting a decent media plan together sure isn't easy. You have to get good prices for advertising space, make a list of ad formats, get together a good PR text, push hard on designers to meet the deadlines and last but not least, measure the results. And these are quite astonishing. In three days all ten tracks hit Beatport's Top 100 techno chart and they picked Responding to Dynamic as album of the week. I also got a lot of positive feedback from my fellow producers and DJs and also quite big media coverage.
It was a stressful but in the same time an extremely exciting journey, during which we all learned a lot of new things and became a bit wiser.
So now it's definitely time to relax a bit and just go crazy. And what better chance to do that than at our own 1605 party in – Miami. Yes, we are organizing a special event, called simply »Responding to Dynamic« at this year's WMC. I'll celebrate the release of the album together with Anja Schneider, Christian Smith, Carlo Lio, Spektre (live) and Matthew Hoag. You are warmly welcome to join us on Friday, March 26th 2010 at La Folie club, 655 Washington Avenue at Miami Beach, Florida. Make sure you get your ticket in presale at a discounted price.
